Welfare in Finland

Finland is well-known by its social welfare system. In the late 1980s, Finland had one of the world's most advanced welfare systems, one that guaranteed decent living conditions for all Finns. Since then social security has been cut back, but still the system is one of the most comprehensive in the world.

recently I read an article about the social insurance for pregnancy. I was surprised that having a baby in Finland could receive lots of aid from government. Beside the regular family aid for pregnancy, the mother can also receive a maternity grant, which is either a maternity package or a set, tax-free sum of money. The maternity package consists of baby clothes and baby care articles. Most mothers choose the maternity package because it is worth more financially.

Additionally, unemployment insurance in Finland is also a good welfare policy.
